Mile 605.8-623.2 (17.4 miles)
We once again squeezed in the back of Punisher’s car, Eagle and I perched on his bed he had laid out in the trunk, backpacks piled on top of us. Back on trail it was kinda hard to get in the groove, blame it on the post zero blues and the overall excitement of Flagstaff.
Near the snowbowl and beyond there was quite a bit of snow and the trail was difficult to follow. At one point we were hiking along when we both stopped dead in our tracks, realizing we just passed a spring bubbling out of the ground we had passed earlier and we’d somehow got turned around at some point and had been hiking back south. There is no worse feeling than backtracking.
I had taken an edible this morning and felt slow both in body and mind 😆 I think it’s probably a good idea for me to keep all marijuana consumption to evening/town only.
There were some beautiful views of snow capped mountains today and we saw a small herd of elk. We set up camp at this water tank because we were too tired to go any further.
